I had so much fun cooking a Derby brunch last year, I just couldn't resist doing it again. This year we were lucky enough to have Zach, Kas & JJ join us! I must admit, I perfected my skills... this years menu blew last year out of the water. It is very hard to nail down a favorite, but I think it was #1 -- it.was.amazing.
Fried green tomato, baked ham, fried egg + pimento cheese sauce
Cocktail: Whiskey Smash; aka Honey Bear; whiskey + lemon + simple syrup
Biscuits and spicy turkey sausage gravy (SO easy)
Cocktail: Horse's Neck; whiskey + lemon + ginger beer
Fried chicken & waffles a la mode
Cocktail: Kentucky Mint Julep; whiskey + mint + powdered sugar
After brunch, we headed to Crossing to sit outside, enjoy the sun and watch the Derby. A perfect day spent with our wonderful friends!
